Battle of Read Bridge 1643

Join the Battlefields Trust North-West Region for its first exploration of the battle of Read Bridge, which was fought in April 1643 and saw the defeat of the earl of Derby’s army by a small force of east Lancashire parliamentarians.

Simon Marsh from the Battlefields Trust will lead the walk with the help of local historian Brian Jeffrey.

Meet 10:30am in the public car-park (charges apply) at Spring Wood nature reserve, Whalley, Lancashire, BB7 9DP.

The walk will last around two and a half to two and three-quarter hours over a distance of around three miles across public footpaths. Stout footwear is advised.

Walkers who are not members of the Battlefields Trust will be asked for a £5 donation to support the work of the Trust.
