Battle of Marston Moor 1644 375th Anniversary Commemoration Events.

Friday 5th July-Sunday 7th July 2019

To commemorate the 375th anniversary of the Battle of Marston Moor, fought on 2nd July 1644, there will be a number of events,centred principally on the churches of All Saints, Angram Road, Long Marston YO26 7LR, and St Helen's,1,York Road, Bilton-in-Ainsty YO26 7NL (The latter served as a field hospital for the wounded of both sides during the battle).

Friday 5th July: An Evening with York Military Wives Choir. This special commemoration event at St Helen's will include a parade of colours by members of The Sealed Knot. For further details and tickets, please see: https://yourlocallink.co.uk/events/an-evening-with-the-military-wives-choir/

Saturday 6th July: There will be living history camps by regiments of The Sealed Knot at both churches; 10am-4pm at All Saints and 11am-4pm at St Helen's. Both churches will also be displaying small battle exhibitions. At 7pm a Drumhead service will be held at All Saints, Long Marston. All welcome.

Sunday 7th July: The annual march and service by members of The Sealed Knot commences at 2:30pm from Long Marston Village Hall, YO26 7LW. 3pm service and wreath laying at the battle monument, YO26 7PJ. The Marston Moor battle monument and information board are situated on the road between Tockwith and Long Marston. Please note that parking at the monument itself is limited, and park safely.
