Battle of Winwick 1648
Sunday 14th September 2025
A guided walk exploring the registered battlefield at Winwick. The battle was fought on 19 August 1648 and lasted for up to six hours. The key locations where this significant action of the Second Civil War occurred will be explored and explained.
The walk will last for about 2 hours and involves walking on unpaved ground. There will also be a heritage open day at St Oswald’s Church, Winwick at which reenactors will be demonstrating period weapons, clothing and drill. The church also contains a display of battlefield finds.
Meet at 1:30pm at St Oswald’s Church, Winwick, WA2 8LF.
