Chester siege breach information board

Siege of Chester 1645-46

Sunday 23rd June 2024

A talk and guided walk of the key sites of the siege of Chester 1645-46, including access to the King Charles Tower, the breaches and castle. The talk will include an explanation of the battle of Rowton Heath, the great assault and long siege, as well as the strategic consequences. The talk and walk will be led by Bob Burgess and Charles Cordell.

The meeting point will be inside the King Charles (Phoenix) Tower on the city walls at 10:30am and will finish at the High Cross in the centre of Chester at 12:30pm. The route will involve some steep steps and walk walks and is, unfortunately, not suitable for wheelchairs.

The event will be free for Battlefield Trust members. Non-members will be asked to make a small donation to the trust to support its work in protecting and promoting understanding of Britain’s battlefields.
