Battlefields Trust Conference and AGM 2024

Friday to Sunday 5-7th April 2024

The Board is very pleased to announce that booking for the Battlefields Trust annual conference and AGM is now open via the link at the bottom of this page.

It will be held over the weekend of 5-7 April 2024 at York St John University on the Saturday and on tours around York and Towton battlefield on the Sunday.

This will be the first time the Trust has held the annual conference in York since 2010 and we’re very happy to be returning. The programme is as follows:

Friday 5 April - Pre-conference walk with Yorkshire regional vice-chair, Chris Rock, following the Civil War Siege of York. This will be followed by drinks at the Duke of York, Kings Square.

Saturday 6 April – York St John University. AGM, a programme of speakers including our President Prof Michael Wood speaking on the Battle of Brunanburh (click here for more information). This will be followed by dinner at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, where we held the conference back in 2010 when it was the Monkbar!

Sunday 7 April – optional visits to the Yorkshire Museum and Jorvik Centre in the morning, followed by a guided tour of Towton battlefield courtesy of our friends in the Towton Battlefield Society.

We are letting members arrange your accommodation this year as feedback has been that most members prefer to do that. However, accommodation is of course available at the Double Tree.
