The plaque was in excellent condition when visited on 13 March 2026.
Memorial Notes:
The plaque commemorates Scottish soldiers who were captured at the battle of Dunbar on 3 September 1650 and who died at Durham and lie buried in the area now occupied by the Palace Green Library. In November 2013 two mass graves were discovered during building work. The remains of 29 individuals were exhumed and were reburied in the Elvet Hill Road Cemetery in 2018.
