This monument is thought to have been erected by the Dudding family who lived here 1797-1812 to celebrate their cousin Admiral Nelson's victory at Trafalgar. Re-erected 1999. That the Earl of Warwick died here after the Battle of Barnet in 1471 is probably a myth.

Condition Description:

Plaque appears to have been replaced in recent years as there is no natural discolouration in the images of the memorial taken in September 2025.

Memorial Notes:

Whether the Earl of Warwick, when he left the battle 'somewhat fleing', would have been able to reach this location depends on the location of the battlefield.
