The history of Someries Castle
Someries castle takes its name from the de Somery family of Dudley in the West Midlands. By the middle of the 15th Century ownership of the manor had passed to John Wenlock, and the ruins before you today are all that remain of his residence. Lord John died in the Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471 and his estates were forfeit to the Crown.
