Memorial Notes:
This memorial is a good example of the memorialisation of local folklore. The plaque was installed in the 19th century by the parish clerk of St Mary's church whose putative ancestor was William Skelhorn. There is no contemporary evidence to verify this; not to mention the improbability of reversing horseshoes!
