Memorial Notes:

King Charles I ordered the breaking down of Pershore bridge on 6 June 1644 as he tried to escape pursuing parliamentarian troops under Sir William Waller. The work led to the collapsing on an arch of the bridge which caused over 20 of the king's men to drown.
