-Here Robert Phelips laid down his mortal remains ; Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancashire, Groom of the bedchamber to James II: second born son of Robert Phelips, a Knight Batchelor of Montacute in this county of Somerset; who first to Charles I then Charles II and James II against all the enemies such as the Scots as well as the English, he strenuously and constantly stood up as a champion for the church of the legal English monarchy. When times were changing he was not swayed by them. Born first of February 1618 AD Died 21st of June 1707
