Cheriton - Looking east from the parliamentarian lines on East Down

Battle of Cheriton 1644

Join Wessex Region chairman Chris Gravestock for a walk around the battlefield of Cheriton, where Sir William Waller's parliamentarian army defeated the royalists under Lord Hopton and the Earl of Forth.

Meet at 10.00 am at the War Memorial (junction of School Road and the B3046 - SO24 0PX) in Cheriton village near New Alresford, Hants. Parking is in village at the War Memorial. The Flower Pots pub nearby is a good venue for lunch for anyone interested in refreshment after the walk. The walk will last about 2.5 hours. Stout footwear is recommended.
