Battle of Hopton Heath 1643

Meet at 2.00pm on Saturday 24th May 2025 outside the Village Hall, Salt Rd, Salt, Stafford ST18 0BW.
This walk, marking the 382nd anniversary of the battle, will cover the northern approaches to the battlefield, the line of deployment of the parliamentarians, the centre of the field, including the commemorative monument and interpretation board, and the lines of attack by the royalists from the south. It will include some visual and ‘hands-on’ aids.
The circular route of about 3km will take about two hours and finish back at the Village Hall, Salt. Mainly along good footpaths, some uneven tracks and fields, stiles and steep slope. Sturdy footwear recommended.
Thanks to Salt Village Hall, toilet facilities will be available at start and end of walk. Parking is limited at the Village Hall but plenty of careful, considerate parking is available on the main village road.
The walks are free to BT members (donations welcome). Non-members welcome, subject to availability of places and suggested donation of £5.
