Medieval Wakefield Day

10:30am-4.00pm
Programme for the day:
10.30am: Meet outside the Chantry Chapel, Chantry Bridge WF1 5DJ for a tour and talk by Richard Atkinson from the Friends of Wakefield Chantry Chapel. (The bridge will be open to allow people to park there for the duration of the visit).
12 noon: Make own way to Sandal Castle, Manygates Lane, WF2 7DS. (There is a small car park at the castle).
12.30 - 1.30pm: Lunch – The Castle Café provides snack lunches and orders will be taken in advance for those who wish to eat here. There is also some limited outdoor seating if people bring their own lunches.
1.30 – 3pm: Tour and talk on the 1460 battle of Wakefield by guides Kevin Wilson and Alan Archer from Pontefract & Sandal Castles (pontefractsandalcastles.org.uk).
3-4pm: Visit to the Richard, duke of York memorial on Manygates Lane.
Event free (Excluding cafe lunch). Voluntary donations for the Chantry Chapel welcome.
N.B. Advance booking required. Please contact yorkshire@battlefieldstrust.com, to reserve a place. Booking closes Friday 25th April. Castle Cafe menu will be provided for orders prior to the visit.
