Battle of Sherburn in Elmet 1645

Join Mark Turnbull, Joint Chair of the Trust's North Region for a walk on the battlefield of Sherburn in Elmet, where a Royalist force under the overall command of Lord Digby clashed with detachments of Parliament's Northern Association army, commanded by Sydenham Poyntz.

Walk approximately 2 miles in length, largely on pavements or tracks, but also includes some uneven and possibly muddy surfaces, and narrow gates.

Meet outside the entrance to All Saints' Church, Church Hill, Sherburn in Elmet LS25 6BJ. Car parking available in the adjacent church hall, or on Church Hill.

Toliet facilities are available with refreshments in the cafe at Fields Garden Centre, Tadcaster Road LS25 6EJ
