Siege of Devizes 1643
Thursday 6th June 2024
Charles Cordell will describe the key events of the siege, including the break out by Prince Maurice and the King’s Western Army horse, assaults by William Waller’s Western Association and the final relief on Roundway Down.
The meeting point will be at St James’s Church, on the Green, at 15:00. The walk will aim to end at the Market Place at about 17:00, with an opportunity for further discussion in a nearby inn.
The event will be free for Battlefield Trust members. Non-members will be asked to make a small donation to support the Trust’s work in protecting and promoting Britain’s battlefields
