Tours of Pontefract Town and/or Pontefract Castle

Wednesday 13th July 2022

Battlefields Trust members are invited to join the Boroughbridge Local Historical Society for local guides' free tours of Pontefract Town and Pontefract Castle 

Town Tour (Including museum visit): 10:30am-12:30pm. Led by Eric Jackson. Meet at the Buttercross, Market Place, Pontefract.WF8 1AT

Castle Tour: 2pm. Led by Kevin Wilson and Alan Archer. Meet at the entrance to Pontefract Castle. A general tour of the castle, with specific reference to Thomas of Lancaster, and the Civil War sieges.

For the town tour, the nearby Tesco car park, WF8 1BJ has parking for up to 4 hours (First 2 hours free). The castle has a small free car park on The Booths WF8 2JF, and there is additional parking at the nearby Aldi on South Baileygate, WF8 2LN.

The castle has an open air picnic area, and the indoor Liquorice Cafe open between 10:30am and 3pm
