Visit to Tangmere Air Museum
Sunday 26th October 2025
A South East and London South Region event to mark the major battle that did take place in the sky above the Battlefields Trust region with one of the smaller number of ground battles!
2025 marks the 85th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Tangmere was in the thick of the battle as a Sector Station. The Museum is on the airfield and has an extensive display of this period including the uniform of the only Battle of Britain VC, James Nicholson.
A Spitfire and Hurricane are on display. The museum also covers later periods including Bader’s Big Way of 1941 and the SOE period later in the war. There is on display the Post War Red Hawker Hunter in which Neville Duke broke the World air speed record in 1953.
All in all a lot to see. There is plenty of parking. Cost of Admission is £14.30 ( £12.30 for Over 60’s)
There is no set arrival time but we suggest arriving late morning, say 11 am. The museum closes at 5pm. Their Café is open all day and volunteers are on hand to answer questions.
The museum’s address is: Gamecock Terrace, Tangmere, PO20 2ES.
You can just turn up on the day but it would be helpful to know numbers, so please let John Freeman know if you can come using the contact details below.
The museum website will give you a taster of exhibits. Julian and John hope to see you. Tally Ho !
