Southam and Edgehill 1642

Simon Marsh will talk about John Hampden’s introduction to war with his participation in the battles of Southam and Edgehill at the start of the Civil Wars.  Discover more about the little know engagement at Southam and John Hampden’s  dramatic intervention at the first major battle of the war at Edgehill.

 

Simon Marsh is the Battlefields Trust Research Coordinator and Mercia Region Chair.  He co-authored Battle for London (Amberley, 2010) about the Edgehill campaign and the royalist attack on London in 1642 and has written on the Civil War for the Journal of Army Historical Research and Pike and Shot Society.
