Buckinghamshire in the Civil War

Professor Ian Beckett will draw on his new book Wanton Troopers (Pen and Sword, 2016) to describe Buckinghamshire’s experience of Civil War and John Hampden’s importance and role in the County.  From raising recruits to attacks on villages and manor houses, learn more about what happened locally in those tumultuous years.

 

Recently retired as Professor of Military History at the University of Kent, Professor Beckett  is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, he has been Chairman of the Council of the Army Records Society since 2000, and is also Secretary to the Buckinghamshire Military Museum Trust. He is on the executive council of the Buckinghamshire Record Society.
