Battle of Lansdown 1643

Join Ian Chard for a guided walk round the important civil war battlefield of Lansdown.

Fought in July 1643 Lansdown was one of the English Civil War's most dramatic battles as the Royalist Cornish launched a near-suicidal attack up the steep slopes of Lansdown Hill. The spot where their leader fell is still marked by a memorial day.This walk offers a superb opportunity to learn more about this historic battle, stand on the very spots where the action took place - and  enjoy some of Britain's loveliest scenery.

 

Walk departs at 1.00pm. Park at Lilliput Farm, Lower Hamswell, Bath BA1 9DE Members free, non-members £5.00. There will be an opportunity to buy tea at the farm after the walk with proceeds going to a local charity. NB The walk will involve one steep hill. Please contact Ian on ian.chard@talktalk.net
