First Battle of Newbury 1643 Information Board

The Falkland Memorial stands adjacent to the first Newbury battlefield and commemorates the death of Lucius Cary, Lord Falkland who was killed in the battle.  Thanks to an initiative between the National Trust, who own the site, the Battlefield Trust & Newbury Town Council, a new information panel about the monument and its place in Newbury's local history will be unveiled on:

At the Falkland Memorial, Wash Common (at the junction of Essex Street and the Andover Road), Newbury, RG14 6QW

 

Following the unveiling, local historian Dave Stubbs will lead a short historical walk around Wash Common to include the critical events across the battlefield.
