Battles of the Civil War in Cheshire - Cheshire in the Civil War and the Battles of Middlewich 1643

Professor Malcolm Wanklyn, one of the country's leading academic historians on the military aspects of the Civil War, will talk about the importance of Cheshire to both Crown and Parliament during the Civil War and examine the course of the war in the county.  He will discuss the two battles that were fought around Middlewich, with emphasis on the first action fought in March 1643.



Professor Wanklyn is Emeritus Professor at the University of Wolverhampton.  He has published a number of books on the Civil War, including A Military History ofthe English Civil War with Frank Jones (2005), Decisive Battles of the English Civil War (2006) and Warrior Generals (2010) about the leading commanders.

Date and Time:  Saturday 12 September 2015, doors open at 2pm for a 2:30pm start.

 

Ticket Prices are £7.50, £25 discounted price for booking all four talks, refreshments included.

All proceeds go towards the cost of battlefield interpretation at Middlewich.
