The Battles of Wakefield Tour, Saturday 28th November, 10.30 am – 12.30 pm, led by David Cooke and Helen Cox
Meet in the car-park at Sandal Castle, Manygates Lane, Wakefield WF2 7DS, 10.15 for 10.30 start
A guided tour of Sandal Castle, with reference to its role in Richard, Duke of York’s catastrophic defeat in December 1460 and in the English Civil War. This will be followed by a short walk down Manygates Lane to the Duke’s monument and the last surviving fragment of the medieval battlefield, close to the site of his death.
